The Security Minister, Patricia Bullrich, visited Mar del Plata after the murder of a kiosk owner in the city and, along with the mayor Guillermo Montenegro, announced the launch of the 90/10 plan in March at the Operations and Monitoring Center (COM). Bullrich stated that the borders were previously permeable and drugs flowed uncontrollably, but her management managed to halt large amounts of cocaine, conducted record operations, and seriously confronts drug traffickers.
In response to statements from Axel Kicillof, governor of Buenos Aires, who blamed Bullrich and President Javier Milei for the arrival of drugs in the country, the minister accused Kicillof of keeping his province in a state of chaos, allowing criminals to operate without restraint. Bullrich criticized the security management in the province of Buenos Aires, pointing out drug trafficking as one of the main problems, alongside general insecurity.
The strategy of the 90/10 plan focuses on allocating resources to districts with the highest crime rates, with the intention of protecting the population and police forces. Bullrich assured that the objective is to protect the police more than the criminal; however, agents who violate the rules will also face punishment. The minister recalled that the national government is working to counteract the drug problem, criticizing the previous management that allowed a large number of drug cultivators to be sheltered under the pretext of medicine.
In her final message, Bullrich urged Kicillof to take responsibility for security in the province and to work for the citizens of Buenos Aires instead of looking for scapegoats in other areas.
